Complete Bounties To Deliver After Lightfall’s Release
Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion is arriving, and before it does, players should complete some tasks in preparation for the new content. Lightfall will continue the online shooter’s story, taking players to a mysterious and secret city on Neptune, only to be threatened by The Witness’ forces, led by the proxy general, Emperor Calus. There, players will awaken a new power born from the Darkness, known as Strand, being able to manipulate Darkness threads in combat.
While the story itself and the Strand sub-class are the most anticipated pieces of content to be added through the Lightfall expansion in Destiny 2, much more will arrive. That includes high-end activities, like Raids and Dungeons, as well as many new pieces of equipment. Along with that, some parts of the game will be removed, requiring players to complete a few tasks and claim their rewards before the specific content goes away for good.

Get Up-To-Date With The Witch Queen Campaign
In case this hasn’t yet been done, players should get up-to-date with The Witch Queen campaign before Destiny 2: Lightfall comes out. While it is not strictly essential for progress purposes, players will have a better understanding of the events prior to the Guardian’s journey to Neptune and The Witness’ advance against humanity.
The expansion also tells one of the best stories in the franchise to this day, so even if it is not for the sake of contextualization, players should go through The Witch Queen in Destiny 2.
Finish More Than A Weapon Quests
The seasonal questline “More Than A Weapon” should also be concluded before Destiny 2: Lightfall. The story will show players the conclusion to Rasputin’s arc and how that will immediately influence the Guardian’s trip to Neptune. The secret city on the faraway planet is also mentioned throughout the questline’s progression, making it a great teaser for the upcoming expansion.
Besides this, players will not have another chance to experience the story after Lightfall arrives in Destiny 2. This is because all of the content from the seasons related to The Witch Queen year is going to be removed definitively with the new expansion.
Complete The Season Of The Seraph Pass
One of the imminently removed contents with Lightfall’s release is bound to be Destiny 2’s Season of the Seraph Season Pass and its respective rewards. Players have until the day prior to the next expansion’s release to reach or surpass level 100 and claim all the rewards they are entitled to. This includes certain upgrade materials and Glimmer, as well as exclusive armor Ornaments, armor pieces, an exclusive Sparrow, a Ghost Shell, the exotic submachine gun, The Manticore, the weapon’s Ornament, Scorpionflight, and much more.
If players do not level the Season Pass to 100 before Destiny 2: Lightfall, they will not be able to progress any further, thus making it impossible to obtain rewards in tiers they have not reached. Luckily, if players have leveled and have, for any reason, failed to redeem their prizes, they can actually do it after Lightfall comes out. On developer Bungie’s official website, they can claim rewards from previous seasons; they need only login with their accounts.
Obtain The Risen, Reaper, Scallywag, & Seraph Titles
Due to what Destiny 2: Lightfall takes away from players in terms of content, access to a few season-related Titles will also disappear. This means, players need to obtain the Risen, Reaper, Scallywag, and Seraph Titles before Lightfall’s release since it will be impossible to do so afterward.
While Season of the Risen, Season of the Haunted, and Season of Plunder are no longer happening, their activities and related Triumphs can still be completed. This means players can still grab the Titles before they are locked away with Lightfall.

Similarly, because of the annual reset, players will no longer be able to obtain the MMXXII Title, since the Moments of Triumph 2022 Seal will also be vaulted. A few other Titles, such as Reveler, Deadeye, and Iron Lord, will have their uncompleted Triumphs reset. This means players will have to grind to obtain them before Destiny 2: Lightfall sets them back in terms of Triumphs.
Farm For Builds Against New Champions
Destiny 2’s Quicksilver exotic weapon was the first Lightfall weapon to be added to the game, but many more will come with the expansion’s release. Along with that, players will receive new armor, but they can already prepare in advance for some of the new Champion mechanics.
Overload Champions can be stunned with Stasis’ Slow effect, Arc’s Jolt damage, and Void’s Suppression, while Stasis’ Shatter damage will stop unstoppable Champions, Arc’s Blinding effect, Solar Ignitions, and an effect from Strand. Lastly, Barrier Champions will be stunned Void’s Volatile Rounds, Solar’s Radiant effect, and another effect from Strand. With this information, players can already start making a few builds for facing Champions.
Get Weapon Patterns
As of now and up until the release of Destiny 2: Lightfall, players can get Deepsighted seasonal weapons from vendors every day, as opposed to weekly. That means those who want to get the Deepsight version of Calus Mini-Tool in Destiny 2 to eventually unlock its shaping Pattern, for instance, can buy one per day, provided they have enough resources to do so.
It is important to note that only one Deepsight weapon can be bought from each vendor every day – this makes buying anything from the Mask of Sorrow a harder choice since there are two distinct sets of seasonal weapons, the Opulent and the Haunted.
Make Space In The Vault
With so many gear possibilities, both old and new, Guardians should really make space in their Vaults before Destiny 2: Lightfall. Despite the fact that Bungie recently gave Destiny 2 players more loot space, in 2022, the space in their Vaults is still quite limited. Therefore, keeping older equipment for merely nostalgic purposes may not be the best option.
The recommendation is to maintain all Exotic pieces acquired and not in use, as well as Legendary pieces of armor that have a 65+ base stat total. Of course, they should also keep their weapon god-rolls, but be wary of stacking up too many unused god-rolls. Players should really filter out what they do not plan on using, no matter how good.
Complete Bounties To Deliver After Lightfall’s Release
Try-hard players should already know this by now, but anyone who has completed the Season Pass should consider buying multiple Destiny 2 Bounties and completing them before Lightfall. After completion, they should not be handed in, however. Rather, they should be kept safe and sound in the Bounties list inside the Quests tab.
Once Lightfall is released, players may then hand the Bounties in Destiny 2 to quickly level through the next season’s Pass. Players can hold a total of 63 total Bounties and Quests combined, so having fewer Quests may open up more space for future seasonal experiences.
Players have many things to do before Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion is released at the end of the month. Luckily, if they played steadily throughout the last year since The Witch Queen, there will be much less grinding involved. Destiny 2: Lightfall comes out for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on February 28.
